Power BI is a data analytics tool developed by Microsoft that makes it easy to visualize and share business insights. It was first released in 2015, and it’s designed to turn even complex data into dashboards and reports that are simple for users to understand.

It might seem tricky if you’re a beginner, but it isn’t. Anyone can download and install it for free and start analyzing and visualizing data.

In this post I’ll walk you through how to install Power BI from scratch, step by step.



1. Ready to Install Power BI


  • Windows 10 or later

  • Access to the Microsoft Store or the internet

  • A Microsoft account (you’ll need it to log in after installing)

  • An internet connection



2. How to Install Power BI


Option 1 : Install from the Microsoft Store


  1. Open the start menu and launch "Microsoft Store" 

  2. Type "Power BI Desktop" in the search bar

  3. Select the app and click install

Option 2 : Download from "Microsoft download center"


  1. Power BI download center → https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download

  2. Download for install program

  3. Run the setup file and follow the steps to complete the installation.

※ Recommendation

 I’d suggest downloading the installer directly from the official Microsoft Power BI website. In my experience, it’s more stable than installing through the Microsoft Store, and there’s less chance of running into errors after the installation.



3. First screen after Installition


After installing, here’s the first screen you’ll see when you open Power BI.

If you go into the options, you’ll see it says something like “September 2025 version.” Since Power BI is updated regularly, it’s a good idea to check your version and install the latest one so you can try out the new features.

DAX는 Data Analysis Expressions 의 약자로, Power BI, Excel Power Pivot, SSAS 등에서 사용하는 수식 언어 입니다. 엑셀의 함수와 유사하지만, 데이터 모델을 기반으로 계산된 열, 측정값(Measure) 등을 만들 수 있어요. 2. DAX 기본 구조는 이렇게 생겼어요! = 함수명(컬럼 또는 테이블, 조건 등) 예를 들어 매출 합계를 구하려면?
